The hymen, or vaginal hymen, is a membrane which is anatomically positioned close to the entry point of the vagina. Girls or young women who have not yet begun their sexual activity have an intact hymen, in most of the cases. However, there are situations which may lead to an accidental hymen breaking, during intense physical activities such as exercise, sports, riding a bicycle, etc. A hymen may also break as a result of a severe fall, an injury or even as a result of masturbation.
Furthermore, in certain cultures or religions, it is expected from a young woman to have her hymen intact, for cultural or religious tradition reasons, and as a result of an accident the broken hymen may cause severe inconvenience to her.
In cases where a woman would like to return to the pre-accidental state, she can contact a specialist cosmetic surgeon who will proceed to hymenoplasty, thus restoring the hymen fully and ensuring it appears as if it was never broken in the first place.
Taking into account the special psychological (and cultural or religious, where applicable) significance attached to the hymen when a young woman begins her sexual life, it is completely understandable that an accidental hymen breaking could be a negative, unpleasant occurrence in certain cases. Our technique provides the opportunity to the patient to "venture back in time", before the accident ever taking place, and restore her hymen to its original, unaltered state. The procedure is completely safe, is not associated with any unpleasant side effects or other conditions, and is completed in less than one hour.
During hymenoplasty, the tissues of the hymen are realigned and restored, using absorbent stitches, achieving a reconstructed hymen, and enabling the rupturing and bleeding of the hymen during the first sexual intercourse after the procedure. It is especially important to note that hymenoplasty is performed by using a medical laser apparatus, and upon the completion of the procedure no visible scars or marks are present, as if the hymen was never broken in the first place. Since hymen restoration is achieved by convergence of hymen residue, blood flow during a female menstrual cycle is not affected in any way.
Once the hymenoplasty procedure is completed, you will notice that the accidental hymen breaking will… have never existed, and in your first sexual intercourse session, which can take place some days after the procedure is completed, you will experience the results expected in a young woman's first sexual intercourse, without any sort of qualitative difference noticed.
Does hymenoplasty require overnight stay post operation?
No. The procedure lasts for 30-45 minutes and can be performed with local anaesthesia. The patient can return to her day to day activities immediately, and recovery is immediate.
When can I have my next sexual intercourse, post operation?
An average time of 30 days between the operation and the next sexual intercourse is recommended. On the first instance of sexual intercourse following the operation, the hymen will be ruptured / broken once again.
